“Always Audrey: Six Iconic Photographers. One Legendary Star"
An exhibition of images taken throughout Audrey Hepburn’s life and career by photographers that include Milton H. Greene, Douglas Kirkland and Terry O’Neill. In conjunction with the just-released book of the same name.
Costumes spanning five decades of Hepburn’s career in theater and on film, including pieces by Walter Plunkett (below), Edith Head and Irene Lentz, as well as memorabilia, photographs and pieces from her personal wardrobe. Through Jan. 12, 2020.
Bata Shoe Museum senior curator Elizabeth Semmelhack hosts a discussion with Ryan Lintelman, curator, and Dawn Wallace, objects conservator, from the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History, to discuss the history and conservation of the iconic ruby slippers. The lecture will be preceded by a screening of The Wizard of Oz.
“In Pursuit of Fashion: The Sandy Schreier Collection”
Legendary costume designer Gilbert Adrian (a gown from his Fall 1945 collection is seen here) is featured alongside designs by Cristobal Balenciaga, Gabrielle Chanel, Christian Dior and others in this showcase of one of America’s most influential collectors of fashion.
